The Argentine oil and gas business has been through significant recent changes. The enactment of Decreto 1277 was the latest in a series of moves by the Federal government. This presentation will provide a brief overview of recent changes to the country's regulatory framework and their commercial impact and include a discussion of the country's current production and demand, as well as scenarios for the near-term future.
Amalia Saenz ,
is a partner with the Argentine law firm of Brons & Salas, which she joined in 2005.
She currently chairs the firm’s oil and gas law practice. Prior to her current position, Amalia
was in-house legal counsel for Bridas Energy International.
Her practice covers the full scope of energy and oil and gas laws, with specific focus on acquisitions and divestitures of oil and gas assets. She has negotiated numerous contracts, including sales and purchase agreements, joint ventures, and joint operating agreements. More recently, Amalia has been involved in rendering advice on gas regulations and unbundling processes.
She has lived in London and Turkmenistan and currently resides in Buenos Aires. Amalia is a graduate of Universidad de Buenos Aires and has a graduate degree in Environmental Law from Universidad Austral. In addition to Spanish and English, she also speaks Russian. Amalia has been selected as one of the recognized Argentine Attorneys in the "International Who’s Who of Oil and Gas Lawyers" (2009 through 2011 editions) and has penned numerous publications.
