Kathryn Marietta

Kathryn Marietta is Senior Counsel - International for Apache Corporation and has held such position since April of 2002. Her practice involves structuring, negotiating and documenting various commercial transactions for Apache’s international operations, business development and new ventures. These commercial transactions include acquisitions, transportation and sales agreements, exploration and development activities and matters involving government oil and gas companies.

Prior to joining Apache, Ms. Marietta was Counsel with a major U.S. law firm working in its energy and international practice groups. Her previous practice was focused on the negotiation and documentation of transactions involving operating agreements, the construction of facilities and acquisition of services and equipment required in the international oil and gas industry for projects in South America, Africa and the Middle East and the transportation and sale of oil and gas.

Ms. Marietta’s practice has also included other energy related transactions such as those involving domestic power generation facilities. While over the last ten years Ms. Marietta’s practice has been primarily devoted to international energy projects and transactions, she also spent many years in Singapore working for a large, well-established U.S. law firm. Her practice included a variety of international commercial transactions involving numerous countries in Southeast Asia and she represented multinational clients in both the oil and gas industry as well as other industries with their joint venture, acquisition, financing and licensing activities throughout the region.

Ms. Marietta earned a BS in Soil and Water Science in 1981 and earned a JD in 1985. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the State Bar of California and has served on the Board of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (2003-2007).
