
José Luis Vittor is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm’s Houston office. José Luis focuses his practice on business law, including commercial and corporate transactions, public and private partnerships, infrastructure and other project development and finance transactions, securities, real estate transactions and international arbitration.
José Luis provides counsel and representation to some of the world’s largest banks and corporations, corporate boards and top management in commercial and corporate transactions, privatizations, project development and finance, cross-border banking, mergers and acquisitions, and direct foreign investments in Latin America, Europe, Asia and the United States .Mr. Vittor was a member of the team retained by the World Bank and the Argentinean Government to coordinate efforts for the privatization of YPF, which became the largest private energy company in Argentina. In private sector engagements, Mr. Vittor advised the George Soros Group in its investment transactions in Argentina and Brazil, including the first real estate company simultaneously listed in Sao Paulo and New York. He also participated in the privatization of Tecnosal, the biggest salt mine in Venezuela, and Fondo de Valores Inmobiliarios, the first real estate fund listed simultaneously in Caracas and New York. Most recently, he represented the winning consortium in the privatization of the Banco Hipotecario in Argentina. Mr. Vittor also served as legal advisor to energy companies on regulatory and transactional aspects in Argentina, Brazil and other Latin American countries, as well as project finance and development of LNG projects.
José Luis is a member of the Buenos Aires Bar Association and a founder member of the Society of British and Argentine Lawyers. He is a member of the board and former President of the IAPG, Houston.
